Who's responsible
A Chef's Tour is the “data controller” for the personal information you share with us — the company that decides what data is collected and how it's used. Any questions about this policy, email privacy@achefstour.com.
02
What we collect
Depending on how you use our site, we may collect:
- Booking details: your name, email, phone number, the tour and date you booked, number of guests, dietary requirements, and payment confirmation from Stripe (we never see or store card numbers).
- Voucher details: the buyer's and recipient's names and emails, any custom message, and the voucher code.
- Contact form messages: whatever you write to us and any contact details you include so we can reply.
- Account details: if you create an account, we store your email and preferences so you can look up past bookings.
- Usage data: broad, anonymised information about how the site is used — page views, device type, referring URL — collected via a privacy-respecting analytics setup.
03
How we use it
We use your data to:
- Fulfil the tour or voucher you booked and stay in touch about it.
- Send you booking confirmations, reminders, and post-tour follow-ups.
- Respond when you contact us — via the site, WhatsApp, or email.
- With your permission, send the occasional newsletter about new tours and stories. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Improve the site — understand which pages get read, where friction lives, what to build next.
- Meet legal obligations — accounting records, tax, and safety incident logs.
04
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We share it with a small number of trusted providers who help us run the business:
- Stripe — processes card payments.
- Supabase — hosts our database and files.
- Google Workspace — email, calendar and document storage.
- Nodemailer via Gmail — sends transactional emails (confirmations, vouchers).
- Local guides and partner venues — receive only what they need to host your tour (your first name, party size, and any dietary notes).
We may also share data if we're legally required to — for example in response to a court order or fraud investigation.
05
How long we keep it
Booking and voucher records are kept for seven years to meet accounting requirements. Newsletter subscribers are kept until they unsubscribe. Contact form messages are typically kept for two years then deleted. Analytics data is aggregated and does not identify individuals.
06
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or ask us to stop using it. Email privacy@achefstour.com and we'll respond within one calendar month.
If you're in the EU or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
07
Cookies
The site uses a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and to understand how the site is used. Full breakdown is in our Cookie Policy.
